Report: Official says '35 Siberia development plan obsolete

NOVOSIBIRSK, Jan 31 (PRIME) -- The strategy of the Siberian Federal District development until 2035, adopted by the federal government, is obsolete, head of the Novosibirsk Region Andrei Travnikov told local TV channel OTS Tuesday.

"I gave my assessment of the strategy last year at the Siberian Transport Forum. Unfortunately, I must state that it did not change in principle. No principal changes were introduced to the strategy. It seems that the fate of Siberia is to produce ore and turn it into metal at the first stage of processing. It seems to me that the strategy is not quite up to date," Travnikov said.

The strategy, approved by the government on January 27, envisages three stages of implementation. The launch of the almost ready infrastructure and investment projects is slated for 2023–2025, socio-economic transformation for 2026–2030 and an increase of self-sufficiency of the regional economies and a decrease of federal budget subsidies for 2031–2035.
